Employers have long realized the benefits of helping workers stay physically healthy, but many have been reluctant to venture into the less understood, often stigmatized realm of mental health issues. Today, that attitude is starting to change as organizations realize the extent of the problem and the toll it takes on productivity and business continuity.

  • Nearly half the global population is affected by mental illness at some point in their lives.

  • Some 300 million suffer from depression, often with bouts of anxiety.

  • Work-related stress can exacerbate these symptoms, leading to absences and poor performance that impede companies from achieving their goals.

  • Study after study shows that across widely disparate cultures, mental health problems have similar debilitating effects on an organization.

  • A recent study by the World Health Organization (WHO) found that depression and anxiety (the most common psychological problems)
cost the global economy a staggering $1 trillion per year.

Organizations have a Duty of Care to provide for the wellbeing, safety and security of their entire global workforce – including travelers, expatriates, and local nationals. Yet most organizations are not equipped or even aware of how to provide mental health services and how to incorporate the services into their current Duty of Care program. Most successful global corporations are defined by three fundamental values: ethos, Duty of Care, and corporate social responsibility/sustainability. The ideal organization has balanced these three themes and enveloped them in a culture of health/wellness.

Through experience, case studies, and global trend, this program will provide an overview on how to help organizations learn about the “reality of your workplace” and the unique ways to promote a culture of health that ultimately impacts your bottom line.

Attend this session to:

  • Learn the missing link between workforce health and workplace safety and the health of the bottom line.

  • Find out the importance of de-stigmatizing mental illness and how to socialize it amongst leaders of your organization.

  • Discover the different kinds of international exposure and how they can have a hazardous effect on an organization.

  • Hear about the link between emotional health and substance abuse and the impact it has on the safety of your global workforce.

  • Learn important global trends, compliance laws and regulations that organizations need to address regarding mental health in certain countries around the world.

  • Gain an understanding of how to equip managers with tools and resources to identify risks.

  • Discover unique tools that will help you understand your global population and how to ultimately put a program in place that addresses the needs of your workforce.
